Citroën unveils four new and revised models for 2017

Citroën yesterday unveiled four new/revised models as it gears up for 2017 sales. The arrivals are: the revised C4 Picasso/Grand Picasso, new SpaceTourer large people carrier, Cactus Rip Curl special edition and Dispatch van.

As part of its attempt to win sales it is running a ‘Grand Tour’ dealership roadshow (from now to November 20) to showcase the models as well as highlighting the new C3 supermini (here in January). Prices for the C4 Picasso start at €26,695 and €28,995 for the 7-seater Grand version. They get a new-look front and 3D effect rear lights. Inside is upgraded too and there are three new trim levels.

There is new-gen connectivity and a revised touchscreen as well as a hands-free tailgate. And they have brought in a new PureTech 130 engine with manual transmission.

The C4 Cactus Rip Curl Special Edition certainly brings a bit of colour. It has Rip Curl graphics on the wings and rear quarter-lights; white roof rails and door mirrors; orange seatbelts and orange-trimmed carpet mats. It is also the first Cactus with Grip Control – which gives great traction on a variety of surfaces. With it come 17in alloys with Goodyear 4 seasons Mud+Snow tyres. There are two engines: PureTech 110 S&S and Blue HDi 100.

Equipment also includes rear parking sensors, reversing camera, auto air con, auto headlights/wipers, cruise control, sat nav and panoramic sunroof. Prices start at €23,995.

The SpaceTourer – a large, large vehicle – starts at €38,300. I had the 8-seater version for a while and it was enormously roomy. There are three versions overall including one which seats nine. Large families and the shuttle market are obvious targets. The sliding side doors are a real bonus.

The seats in the second and third rows are independent, slide and recline. A 7in tablet controls media, phone and navigation functions. The Mirror Screen technology lets you turn the touchscreen into your smartphone and is compatible with Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink.

And finally there is the new Dispatch van which starts from €21,500 including VAT.
