VW to roll out series of new EV models as it plans €180bn spend

Overview

Volkswagen plans several significant new electric models to be launched this year and expects them to add “further tailwind” to the expansion of sales.

The models include the new/upgraded ID3, the ID7, the ID Buzz Long Wheel Base, Cupra Tavascan and Audi Q8 e-tron.

It expects these models to boost market share for its battery electric vehicles (BEVs) to around 10pc of total deliveries by the end of this year.

BEVs now account for 16pc of the group’s order book, the company said at a media briefing.

Last year, its three best-selling BEVs were the ID4, ID3 and the SKODA Enyaq iV.

This emerged as the group revealed plans to invest €180bn between now and 2027 in the enterprise, with two-thirds of that earmarked for electrification and digitalisation.

In its special report the maker says that by as early as 2025, every fifth vehicle sold worldwide will have all-electric drive.
