Overview

Renault is to show how to get away from it all with its Hippie Caviar Motel.

Based on the new Kangoo E-Tech Electric, it is being described as “a mobile shelter for adventurers and sports enthusiasts who love the outdoors”.

It will be on display at the IAA Transportation in Hanover, Germany, on September 19.

The SUV is all-electric and made with recycled materials.

Last year, Renault unveiled the Hippie Caviar Hotel show car.

It has now moved onto stage two of its strategy for leisure vehicles.

Designed as a mobile base camp that makes it easy to relocate, it has a claimed range of 282km and can muster a 168km boost with a 30-minute charge.

There are several storage spaces inside and out.

The roof comes with a rack that can hold skis but there is also a large panoramic roof.

The bench folds down into a comfortable single bed. The shelves and floor are made of recycled tyres and cork.
