Overview

THE new Ford Ranger Raptor high-performance pick-up has just arrived on the market.

It has a twin-turbo three-litre V6 292PS diesel, four exhaust modes, seven selectable drive modes and new full-time 4WD. There is also the option of going for a two-litre bi‑turbo diesel, with first deliveries next summer.

The new Raptor has a different chassis frame and suspension from the other Ranger variants. As well as a new suspension to tackle tough terrain, there is extensive underbody protection.

The Raptor, for the first time, gets an advanced full-time 4WD system, with a new electronically‑controlled on-demand 2spd transfer case and seven selectable drive modes.

On-road modes include normal, sport and slippery. Off-road modes include rock crawl, sand, mud/ruts and Baja.

The cabin has new, jet fighter-inspired sports seats to give more support during high-speed cornering.

There is a 12.4in digital cluster and a 12in touchscreen infotainment system.
