New Polestar4 EV is shaping up to be something special

Overview

Details of the new Polestar 4 have just been revealed.

The brand says it merges the aerodynamics of a coupé with the space of an SUV. It is positioned between Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 in terms of size and price and is due here next year.

Designed from the ground up, it pays particular attention to rear-seat space and comfort (there are reclining seats at the back).

And, as there is no rear window, the rear-view mirror is replaced by a high-definition screen that shows a real-time feed from a roof-mounted rear camera.

A substantial car, it has a 2,999mm wheelbase and is 4,839mm long, 2,139mm wide and 1,544mm tall.

There is heavy use of eco-friendly interior materials.

Polestar 4 is the fastest production car the brand has made and can sprint to 100kmh in 3.8 seconds.

Maximum power is 544hp.

There will be dual and single-motor versions; single versions are rear-wheel driven; dual have AWD.

A 102 kWh battery is fitted to both long-range versions.

The Long range Dual motor (544hp) has a preliminary range target of up to 600km.

The Long range Single motor version develops 272hp and has a preliminary range target of up to 564km.

A disconnect clutch lets you disengage the front electric motor when not needed, to extend range and efficiency.

Up to 200 kW DC and 22 kW AC charging is included for all versions.

The infotainment system is powered by Android Automotive OS and the Snapdragon Cockpit Platform now utilises a 15.4in landscape-oriented screen. Google is built-in and includes Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play,

A total of 12 cameras, one radar and 12 ultrasonic sensors are standard.

A 10.2in driver display is mounted ahead of the steering column.

The optional Pilot Pack includes enhanced Pilot Assist with lane change assistance.

There are a number of other packs to complement standard spec, including Performance pack on the Long range Dual motor version with 22in wheels, Brembo brakes and performance chassis tuning.
