Škoda Celebrates 30 Years in Ireland with record 10k sales

Škoda Ireland is marking its 30th anniversary with a significant milestone, having sold over 10,000 vehicles in a single year for the first time since it began operations in Ireland. The 10,000th Škoda, an Enyaq RS, was recently delivered to a customer in the North East of the country, solidifying Škoda's position as the fourth largest car brand in Ireland. Škoda's journey in Ireland began in the 1970s, with limited sales, but it wasn't until 1993, two years after becoming part of the Volkswagen Group, that the brand found its footing in the market. Initially, with only 12 dealers, it was a humble start, but over the years, Škoda expanded its lineup, including successful models like the Octavia, Fabia, Superb, and more. In 2019, Škoda entered the top five bestselling car brands in Ireland, and now, in 2023, it has achieved the remarkable milestone of surpassing 10,000 vehicle sales in a single year, a testament to its growth and popularity in the Irish market.

John Donegan, Škoda Ireland brand director has been with Škoda since 2010 and said “Customer Satisfaction has always been our number one focus at Škoda Ireland, however, it was important to couple this with simple sales objectives or milestones. One of our earliest targets was to overtake Opel which we achieved in 2015, followed in 2020, by breaking into the Top-5 car brands and exceeding 8% share of the car market. The 10,000 milestone was achieved in October.
