And what a stunning concept it is.

DS Automobiles has heavily redesigned an older concept to come up with the E-Tense Performance prototype.

And what a stunning concept it is.

It’s based on a carbon monocoque, has twin electric motors with 815hp and is four-wheel driven.

DS say the chassis, power unit and battery have ‘solutions’ that will drive the development of future generations of all-electric E-Tense production models.

It drew on the experience of its motorsport division, especially Formula E, to develop a prototype designed to test elements into the brand’s next models. “It is a laboratory that we will use to analyse the behaviour of components and to develop them with a view to future manufacturing.”

Thanks to research, the concept disguises a new chemistry and an immersive cooling system for cells, at odds with current technology.

The battery is designed to allow phases of acceleration and regeneration of up to
600kW.
