Check out what tyres best suit your SUV when it’s time to change

Published on 7 December, 2022

We all know how popular SUVs have become in the past 10 to 15 years.

But because, mostly, they are heavier than a traditional hatchback or saloon, you need to think about what best suits them when replacing their tyres.

Continental Tyres here has compiled a checklist you might find helpful:

*Is your car: Electric, hybrid or internal combustion engine?

*How powerful is it? How large and heavy is it? Do you often tow heavy loads?

*Is it an AWD (all-wheel drive), 4WD (4-wheel drive), or 2WD?

*Will you use it in the city or suburban areas?

Continental’s Tom Dennigan says it is important to consider the capability of your SUV – and what you ask of it. The company has also adapted its tyres to suit the needs of EVs and hybrid SUVs, where the weight of the battery is an extra consideration.
