I know we gave huge coverage to the fact that second-hand cars are worth more than they were a year ago, but one example this week stands out.
The thrust of the research by Cartell.ie and Carsireland.ie was that your car is worth on average around 16pc more than it was last year.
I’ve had a few calls from people saying they can’t get a decent car for decent money as sellers know it’s their market right now.
But one case was different, simply because of the money, not the increase, involved.

I have to be slightly circumspect because I want to respect the person’s privacy, but the story is that he bought an Audi Q7 last year for €95,000 and has driven it plenty in the meantime.
The Q7 is a big executive SUV as you know and you’d imagine in the current ‘green’ climate would not be top of too many people’s lists.
Well, the dealer offered to pay him €100,000 for the car as it stands due to heavy pressure, apparently, from a customer.
