BYD continues its rapid expansion in Ireland with the launch of its fifth model in just two years—the all-new BYD Sealion 7. This stylish, mid-size electric SUV is now available through dealers nationwide in a choice of three fully electric variants: the Comfort, Design, and Excellence models. With prices starting at €45,435, the Sealion 7 brings a mix of performance, luxury, and practicality to the growing EV market.

Sleek and Aerodynamic Design

As part of BYD’s ‘Ocean Series’ design language, the Sealion 7 commands attention with its streamlined, aerodynamic exterior. It is 160mm taller and 30mm longer than its BYD Seal counterpart, with an overall length of 4,830mm and a generous 2,930mm wheelbase.

From its sculpted bonnet and low-slung, air-piercing front to the flowing roofline and subtle rear spoiler, every detail is crafted for both style and efficiency. The full-width rear light bar and wheel options—19-inch or 20-inch, depending on the trim—add to its sporty appeal.

The Sealion 7 also delivers on practicality, offering 520 litres of luggage space, expanding to 1,789 litres with the rear seats folded. Additional storage includes a 58-litre front trunk (frunk) and over 20 cabin compartments for everyday convenience.

Inside, the Sealion 7 blends premium materials with an advanced tech suite. The standout feature is BYD’s 15.6-inch rotating infotainment screen, which provides an intuitive 3D vehicle interface—allowing occupants to control functions like windows and doors with a tap.

Comfort and convenience are paramount, with ventilated and heated front seats, plush rear seating designed to reduce fatigue on long journeys, and a four-way adjustable steering wheel. The driver’s seat is electrically adjustable in eight directions and includes lumbar support. A panoramic sunroof floods the cabin with natural light, while double-layered laminated glass enhances sound and heat insulation.

The infotainment system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the built-in ‘Hi BYD’ voice assistant lets users control climate, navigation, and entertainment hands-free.

Performance and Range

The BYD Sealion 7 delivers an exhilarating drive, especially in its top Excellence trim, which accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. The SUV features four driving modes—Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow—to adapt to different road conditions and driver preferences.

Under the hood, the Sealion 7 is powered by BYD’s proprietary Blade Battery, known for its efficiency and safety. Battery options include:

• Comfort & Design Models: 82.5 kWh battery with a range of up to 482km (WLTP) and a fast-charging time of 10% to 80% in 32 minutes.

• Excellence Model: 91.3 kWh battery, 502km range (WLTP), and a fast-charging time of 24 minutes.

All variants come equipped with 11 kW three-phase AC charging as standard.

Built for Safety and Efficiency

The Sealion 7’s Cell-to-Body (CTB) battery integration strengthens the vehicle’s structure while optimizing interior space. A high-efficiency heat pump system helps regulate battery and cabin temperatures, improving range in colder climates.

For added peace of mind, every Sealion 7 comes with a six-year manufacturer’s warranty, along with an eight-year warranty on the battery and electric motor.
