Like all saloons, the boot by nature is less practical than a hatchback in terms of storage capabilities but even more so in this case as a good chunk is lost to the battery.  At 370 litres, it comes up slightly shy of a Volkswagen Golf.  It redeems itself in the cabin where backseat passengers will enjoy limousine like levels of legroom and a very premium experience.

The 300de comes exclusively in the plush AMG-line trim which comes with all the modern comfort and conveniences you might expect at this end of the market. Highlights include the sporty AMG-line bodykit, SatNav, reversing camera, and an extensive choice of ambient interior lighting. 

While it did not quite achieve the 55km electric range quoted on our test drive, the fuel economy on the diesel engine returned a healthy 5.6l/100km. That's not to say the electric range is not useful, with the vast majority of commutes less than 40km still achievable. The drive itself is pleasant but very different in both modes, the diesel grumble a lot more apparent after a few miles of blissful silence. 

This is newish technology for Mercedes so it's a little early to tell, but their three year extended warranty extends to all Hybrid components.
