Nissan has officially confirmed that an all-new electric version of the Micra will arrive in Ireland in early 2026. This marks the end of the current petrol-powered Micra and the beginning of a fully electric chapter for the much-loved supermini. The new model is being developed as part of the Renault-Nissan Alliance and will be built in France, alongside the Renault 5.

The Micra EV will share the same advanced CMF-BEV platform as the Renault 5, but will feature its own distinct Nissan styling and design. Described as having “very European” looks with strong links to Nissan’s Japanese identity, the new Micra will offer more interior space, enhanced comfort, and a more refined driving experience than its predecessor.

While full technical details are yet to be revealed, the Micra EV is expected to deliver a driving range of over 400km—making it well-suited for both city driving and longer journeys. Nissan says the car will maintain the practicality and ease-of-use that Micra drivers have come to expect, while embracing a new era of electric performance.

The new model has been designed and engineered in France, but with input from Nissan’s global design and development teams. According to Nissan executives, the collaboration ensures that the car will meet the expectations of European drivers while staying true to the brand’s identity.

The full reveal of the new Micra EV is expected later this year, with Irish deliveries beginning in early 2026. Nissan Ireland says the model will be priced competitively within the electric small car segment, offering buyers a stylish, affordable entry point to EV ownership.
