It may sound like I’m thinking of driving in the bright summer sunshine when I suggest that you have a pair of sunglasses with you at all times , but rest assured I am not out of season.
Sunglasses are vital to prevent you from being dazzled and temporarily blinded by the low sun at this time of year.
I was reminded of my own advice – which I have to confess I have not always taken – at the weekend when I found the glare of the late-evening sunshine forcing me to squint and slow down
quite dramatically on one occasion.
Nothing happened, thankfully, but it was not a situation I would like to see repeated, I can tell you.
So it is a case of doing as I say from here on in.
And still on the topic of being dazzled: how come so many drivers don’t bother to dim their lights?
I find myself having to remind them via a flash of headlights, which is something I hate doing.
