GTX - the electric GTI

Overview

ID3 GTX

Volkswagen is broadening its selection of sporty GTX models, marking a double world premiere with the introduction of the new ID.3 GTX and ID.7 GTX Tourer. These two dynamic Volkswagen models showcase individualized exterior designs, featuring distinct front and rear light signatures, sporty interior details, and robust performance capabilities. The GTX designation, originally seen in 2021 on Volkswagen's dynamic models like GTI, GTD, or GTE, now extends to the sportiest offerings within the all-electric ID. product line.

The ID.3 GTX and ID.7 GTX Tourer embody a unique and captivating form of electric mobility, continuing the successful trend established by their predecessors. Reflecting the popularity of GTX models, with one in every five newly registered ID.4 and ID.5 vehicles in Europe bearing the GTX label, Volkswagen has meticulously engineered these models for enhanced driving dynamics, each boasting an individualized technical configuration.

Launching in two variants, the rear-wheel drive ID.3 GTX is epitomized by the top-tier ID.3 GTX Performance, positioned as a zippy and agile compact sports car. Kai Grünitz, Member of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management, emphasizes the electric counterpart's spirited performance, drawing parallels with the iconic Golf GTI Clubsport. The ID.3 GTX inherits nearly half a century of compact GT tradition, promising unparalleled driving pleasure.

Distinguishing itself with a bespoke exterior design, the ID.3 GTX features a GTX-specific front bumper with a distinctive black air intake and novel daytime running lights. Glossy black elements adorn the body, including newly crafted side sills and a redesigned rear end with a diffuser. Inside, premium sports seats and a GTX-specific cockpit surface underscore the model's sporty demeanor, complemented by red decorative stitching throughout.

Similarly, the ID.7 GTX Tourer, unveiled as the flagship model of the ID. family, marries the spaciousness of a large estate with the performance of a sports car. Equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system, it delivers instant power and torque, promising an exhilarating driving experience. Featuring a striking front bumper, illuminated badges, and GTX-specific light graphics, the ID.7 GTX Tourer boasts a refined interior with heated individualized seats and GTX-themed accents.

Scheduled to debut in Ireland later this year, the ID.3 GTX and ID.7 GTX Tourer expand Volkswagen's electric vehicle lineup, enhancing the brand's position as the country's premier EV manufacturer. Alan Bateson, Volkswagen Ireland Director, anticipates the arrival of these latest GTX models, highlighting their fusion of sporting performance and everyday comfort, ensuring Volkswagen's strongest and most compelling EV lineup to date.
